Volunteers are an integral part of day-to-day operations. We could not do all that we do without your help! Because the well being of animals is at stake—volunteering is a responsibility requiring serious commitment.

Dog Walker/Behavior Trainer
Our adoptable dogs and puppies need time outside the kennels, especially if they’re house trained! Sign up to walk, play with, and even teach basic commands to our adoptable dogs.

Behavior Trainer

Bad behavior is the number one reason people relinquish their animals, but it is also the most avoidable. Behavior Trainers will help us teach dogs basic commands to make them more adoptable. Animal Care Specialist
In addition to walking dogs, volunteers help groom and socialize animals so they can put their best paw forward.

Cattery Attendant
Have a feline fixation? Cats need love too! Sign up to pet, clean, and keep our cats cozy.

Horse Attendant
At our new facility we will need:
• Experienced riders to work trained horses (you will be evaluated)
• Experienced trainers and accomplished riders to train horses (references a must)
• Groom the horses, clean tack (no experience needed)
• Clean stalls and turn-out horses (no experience needed)
• Reliable and dependable people to help feed

Surgical Assistant
Assist with pre and post-op care as animals undergo spay & neuter surgeries. Help with microchipping, nail clipping, and other medical treatments

Professional Volunteers

Have a special skill or want to lend a paw from your profession? We can use people with areas of expertise outside of animal care. There’s nothing more fun than to shop ‘til you drop, unless it’s helping others do the same! The best part is—all the proceeds from our on-site gift shop go back to the animals! We need help fulfilling online orders, packaging and shipping items.

Have a big heart but just a little time? We can use your help!

FOA participates in a number of local events. If you would like to help spread the word about responsible pet ownership, this is your chance!

In addition, FOA hosts several annual fundraisers and events throughout the year- the Barking Ball, Hike Your Hounds, Prom, etc. From decorating, collecting auction items and selling tickets, these important fundraisers would not be possible without volunteers like you! Party Animals
Do you love to entertain? Are you known for throwing a great party? Would you like to host a fundraiser at your house? If you are interested in hosting a dinner party, wine pairing, themed party or any type of fundraiser at your home, we would love to talk with you!
